Church School for children 4 years old to 8th grade takes place during the 10 am service on Sundays during the school year. When children arrive at church, they go directly to their classrooms, and return to church with their teachers after class to join the congregation for communion. The Church School curriculum, Godly Play - Children in Pre-K to 3rd grade learn Bible Stories through this Montessori-based program that uses storytelling and play to promote spiritual learning.
Seasons of the Spirit - For our children in 4th-6th grade (some years 6th graders will join the middle school curriculum) the Seasons of the Spirit program allows youth to inquire and explore in creative ways the weekly lectionary texts. This class follows the same weekly readings as are heard in church and explores them through art, craft, drama, and discussion.
Rite 13 - This curriculum is used across the nation offering spiritual development for youth in 6th-8th grade. This two-year program follows a set age group through a course of study culminating in the Rite-13 liturgy, a celebration of maturity and achievement. Youth who participate in this program lay the groundwork for later discussions and preparation for Confirmation. Youth who desire to be confirmed should participate in the Rite-13 program and the second componenet Journey to Adulthood.
Journey to Adulthood - The second stage of our youth curriculum, J2A continues where R13 leaves off. In this second two-year program youth continue to explore self, society, spirituality and relationships. Culminating events and activities for this program include Confirmation and a Pilgrimage Retreat.
